Big, Big, Big
The world’s biggest airline, United, has made a historically large commitment to the Western Hemisphere’s tallest tower. Translation: United agreed to occupy a total of 830k SF for an extended term through 2028 in the Willis Tower. United began a relo from its Elk Grove campus in ’07 and by ’11, it occupied 625k SF in the Willis Tower. The deal announced Monday adds 205k SF and was in the works for two years, according to Robert Wislow, CEO of US Equities, which manages the Willis, said in an interview. “Once we had the core of United settled in Willis, we went after the headquarters as well because their people were so happy with the building and the location,” he says. Heads up—Robert expects more leases to be signed for Willis soon. |
