COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE OSCARS
The Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner may have been nice for the winners, but it meant even more to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, for whom the event raised more than $850,000. The 1500 attendees at the Hilton last night donated at their tables and through sponsorships.
Hines' Greg Van Schaack gave the acceptance speech for Building of the Year, 300 N. LaSalle. (It went on the market earlier this week.) Greg thanked anchor tenant Kirkland & Ellis for sticking with Hines through the long development of the state-of-the-art building. In these awards, no one was played off stage for long acceptance speeches (though Kanye did show up and declare Wrigley Field the best building of all time before being escorted out). Other winners included CBRE, JLL, Leopardo, J.F. McKinney, CBK, Gensler, Clune Construction, and U.S. Equities.
Enjoying the pre-dinner cocktail party, U.S. Equities' Gary Michon and ICM Inc.'s Joseph Bulger, with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP's Robert Fernandez and Linda D. White. Gary is the general manager of Willis Tower, where he's helping United Airlines get situated in its new HQ. Robert and Linda have been spending time on workouts and trying to find ways to get into Bisnow. Maybe one day.
Transwestern's Christie Doman and Dan Svachula joined Morgan/ Harbour's Dan Hessian, celebrating their nomination for Property Management Company of the Year. Christie is showing off space in buildings like 500 W. Monroe. Dan's still trying to show off the hair we featured last May and move product in suburban office markets.
