Last night, new JLL CEO of the Americas Lauralee Martin (center) was given CREW's 2013 CREW Industry Achievement Award. Lauralee says the title is the easy part, and the next step is being successful in the position. While women at the top can be somewhat of an anomaly in CRE, she believes the most important thing to do is coach women around you and develop their talent. She was surrounded by such talent last night; with her areSchiff Hardin's Janet Johnson (CREW Chicago prez) and Prudential Real Estate Investors' Collete English Dixon, who moderated the grand event at theStandard Club.

Lauralee's career moves (former CFO of Heller Financial before joining JLL 11 years ago) are always inspired by a thirst for challenge and the chance to make an impact. After each move, two people have always replaced her (we sense superhuman productivity). Our favorite takeaway: The top trait for success is a sense of humor. If you can laugh and let things wash off your back, doing business becomes infinitely easier.
