Catch More Talent Around Google or Amazon
Heitman EVP Jim Bachner (snapped with his hound Willie) is bringing years of acquisitions experience to Bisnow's annual Chicago Multifamily Summit March 14. Ever the renaissance man, he also spent six weeks riding a Harley to Alaska in the '90s and dined in Nepal last Thanksgiving. Heitman, under Jim's leadership, invests $300M to $500M/year in multifamily acquisitions and development. He and the Heitman team believe Google's move to the Mart is a huge boon to residential owners and developers downtown, as that segment of employee is the primary target renter. He saw this play out on a development deal they are doing in Seattle's South Lake Union around Amazon's HQ, where Amazon's 8,000 initial jobs in the area turned into 16,000 to 20,000 jobs as ancillary businesses rented space nearby (hoping to snare some engineers?).
