Ryan Cos is promoting two of top Chicago-area execs as it continues to branch out into new geographies and property types. Ryan's Jeff Smith will move to Minneapolis to become the company's national EVP, and Tim Hennelly becomes president of the newly created Great Lakes region—the eastern half of the Midwest and based in the firm's new Naperville office. Tim anticipates starting about $100M of new projects in his first quarter on the job, including a seniors living facility in Gurnee, the Kone Center office park in Moline, and the Wirtz Beverage Illinois office and warehouse in Cicero. |
Jeff's looking forward to his move back to Minnesota, where he worked for Ryan from 1986 to 1990 before moving to the Chicago area. When the recession set in, Ryan tried to stay flexible by building everything from MOBs to warehouse, and from design-build to full-service developments, Jeff tells us. He hopes to expand those capabilities nationwide, particularly into the southern half of the country as the population grows there. One thing that won't change is the Ryan Cos' St. Patrick's Day party—the contractor's 11th annual shindig is expected to draw 200 to 300 people to its new offices in the Delta Dental building in Naperville. |
