FRANK GEHRY, COMEDIAN
His buildings may be taken very seriously, but architect Frank Gehry got some laughs yesterday at a luncheon of the Chicago Office Leasing Brokers Association. Frank described how he built an office for the Tonight Show in Burbank, CA: “We took apart a bunch of dumb office buildings and smashed them back together.” In Panama, Gehry designed a multi-colored painted steel building on the Pacific coast, even though those buildings are more traditional Spanish style. His most famous recent Chicago work: the pavilion in Millenium Park. | |
Some of the afternoon’s raffle winners: Zeller Realty Group's Michelle Shrader, Forest Partners Real Estate LLC's Karin Kraai, and Bradford Allen's Craig Nadborne, who won autographed books and vases from Frank. Craig is working on leasing the Kinzie Design Center, a building near the Merchandise Mart that houses showrooms and related service suppliers. He's signed three leases there in the last 60 days. |
