The local USGBC hit Soldier Field Saturday for its annual Emerald Gala, honoring members who've played special roles. Over 500 enjoyed organic (of course) local dinner, dancing, and a green-thmed silent auction—winning items from new flooring to topiaries. | |
We snapped Wight & Co.'s Julie Alton, Matt Duggan, and Lauren Bagull. Julie is redesigning Naperville Central High (alma mater of Bisnow's Maureen Wilkey) and designing the Naperville Early Childhood Center, which will include child-height window boxes so kids can curl up to read a book or look at bugs outside. | |
Taking the creative black tie dress code literally, U of C's Steve Wisenthal donned bike shorts and joined Northwestern's Bonnie Humphrey. (Isn't that fraternizing with the enemy?) UIC is in the process of building a new lab building, slated for LEED Gold. Keeping pace, Northwestern's standards require all new buildings to be at least LEED Silver. | |
