First Day Jitters?
We caught up with Jones Lang's Mike Yazbec on his first day as leader of the Construction Services Group. He took over for Dermot Roe, who's off to Boston to drive company growth. JLL just started doing construction in 2007 when it bought a 40-year-old Boston construction company, and Mike's hoping to grow its $25M Chicago market share, mostly by taking on small $20K to $5M projects in properties it manages. |
Mike has a master's degree in architecture from the University of Illinois and worked as an architect for five years before joining Turner Construction, where he spent a decade learning the trade. He's been at JLL since 2004, where he worked in project mgmt until '07. After we left, Mike, an avid golfer, was preparing for yesterday afternoon's JLL ?Ryder Cup,? where he planned on showing the young guys who was boss. No word back on the results yet. Not usually a good sign. |
