Greenbuild Returns
October 25, 2010
USGBC's Ashley Katz, Taryn Holowka, and Pam Jackson are working on setting up Chicago's second Greenbuild conference in five years. The city hosted the event at McCormick Place in 2007 and will do so again Nov. 17-19. New features this year include a green jobs summit, where participants can look for new careers without paying the full price for conference entries, and the Mayor Daley Award for forward thinking and impact in sustainability. Any guesses as to who the first recipient will be? | |
The USGBC is also offering full-day and half-day tours of sites like the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (above) and the Greenbuild Legacy Home Project—two environmentally friendly Habitat for Humanity structures in the north suburbs. They'll introduce the new LEED for Healthcare standards and the National Real Estate Investor survey of green buildings (which we're proud to say was developed by Bisnow's Sibley Fleming while at NREI). Taryn, who has worked on all the Greenbuilds since their inception eight years ago, says attendance has gradually increased, and she expects 30,000 attendees this year. View available tours here. |
