HOW THEY MAKE THE SAUSAGE
October 19, 2011
With an increasing number of food companies moving their offices to the Chicago suburbs, some are finding creative solutions to combining their offices and kitchen space. Armour-Eckrich just opened its new HQ in Lisle and hired Interform Architects, Clune Construction, and Studley's Rich Dale as the project manager to build out this demo kitchen/conference room in its 20k at 4225 N Naperville Rd (where we snapped Interform's Allan Mellske). The company is consolidating space from another location in Lisle and one in Cinncinati. |
Allan says the project was especially difficult because the kitchen required 400 linear feet of black iron ductwork to get the exhaust out of the kitchen. The building is post-tensioned concrete, so the floors had to be x-rayed and surgically cut to ensure the structural soundness of the building. The meat company will use the new space for sales pitches to stores and restaurants. |
