KEEP THE “SOCIAL” IN SOCIAL MEDIA
August 29, 2011
Social media has exploded onto the CRE scene, and tenants, potential tenants, financial partners, industry leaders, employees, and other stakeholders are engaging through it as we speak, says public relations guru Frank Marino, prez and CEO of New York-based The Marino Org. For TMO’s clients, both in real estate and in other industries, he recommends a multi-platform approach that utilizes a broad range of tools, including Twitter, Facebook, blogs, forums, original video content, podcasts, and wikis. “All these tools help bridge audiences, giving people the opportunity to listen in on the conversation; share opinions, insights and experiences; and of course, generate revenue,” he says. However, TMO stresses to its clients that the "social" in social media means that “it's not all about you. It is about listening to the needs and interests of your target audiences and responding with relevant and useful content.” (We got the same advice about dating.) |
