Liberty LEEDs
Liberty Property Trust has six employees in its Rosemont office, yet it owns 5M SF of Chicagoland industrial property. Now, VP and city manager Don Schoenheider tells us the firm has accepted a challenge for industrial owners, to make as many of its buildings LEED-certified as possible. He believes LEED buildings will eventually become their own asset class. |
We snapped Don with Ashley Bergmann, Heidi Auriemma and Donna Haggerty; he says the average employee at the 460-person company (nationwide) has been there 11 years. Liberty has land in Aurora, North Aurora, and Minooka that it will look to develop as the recession ends. Factoid: Don once wanted to be a city administrator, but turned to real estate after a stint in government. |
