NEW YEAR, NEW BUILDING
353 N. Clark, a 1.2m-SF, 45-story skyscraper in River North opened to tenants on Oct 1, and yesterday we gave it a once-over with Mesirow Financial's Kate Garassino and JLL's David Hopwood.
Four buildings opened in Chicago's CBD in '09, but Kate and David say amenities set 353 (developed by Mesirow; managed by JLL) apart. One of their faves: a tenant ID (David models it above) that's also a gym pass and debit card for the sundry shop or cafeteria. That gym, managed by FFC, offers laundry service and a street view of Dearborn and Hubbard. The in-building parking garage has car wash and oil-change services. (Saying someone lives at the office used to be a slight, but now it sounds better than home.)
Mesirow now occupies 16 floors at 353, in the same block it has been on for decades. The space consolidates the firm's former offices at 350 N. Clark and 321 N. Clark. The 4th floor reception area has views through floor-to-ceiling windows of the House of Blues and the plaza that unites the Westin, 321, and 353. The LEED-Gold building also includes a third-story roof-garden, which collects rainwater to irrigate other plantings on site. |
