Nelson Brothers Branch Out . . . Again
November 16, 2010
Mark and Michael Nelson were born just 14 months apart and grew up doing just about everything together since they were pre-teens in South Africa. So it's no surprise they've started their third company together, handling industrial real estate sales and leasing in Chicago.
They incorporated as Nelson Hill just a week ago. After 12 years of combined experience at Paine/Wetzel-ONCOR International, they think they have a strong enough client and listing base to move out. The brothers have closed 25 transactions this year, almost all within city limits, and have about 20 listings of up to 1.2M SF in the Chicago area. Each of their listings will get a new sign with the company logo early this week, and they're working on posting video tours of listings on their website.
Recently, Michael and Mark have gotten a boost from SBA lending and the regulations increasing the amount of money that can be lent. The brothers have had two companies together: one in advertising and the other in silverware sales in South Africa (a textbook career progression, right?). They say real estate in Chicago suits them well because they like the tight-knit community and the opportunity they have to create maximum value for their clients. |
