CBRE's newest Chicago hires Doug Johnson and Paul Galanis say one of the best things about their jobs is the speed and certainty of the transactions they do, so clearly they're not in CBD investment sales. The two are starting up CBRE's new Auction Services line. With more than 26 years combined experience, the team came over from Sheldon Good & Company Auctions LLC for the opportunity to start what they hope will be the largest auction services line in the country. They've sold just about everything, from industrial buildings to hotels, not to mention Paul's wife's old house. | |
One of Doug's favorite auctions was the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield, sold with much fanfare by Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias last year. Paul once sold 340 homes in New Jersey for the bankruptcy trustee over the course of two and a half days. In addition to traditional open-outcry auctions, Paul and Doug will specialize in sealed bid and online auctions. Doug and Paul say auctions have changed a lot over the last few years, from being seen as a last resort or sheriff's sale, to a viable option for those looking to sell property quickly at market value. |
