Not Just a Trend
May 10, 2010
Mesirow Financial's Erik Pampel started out building green in the San Francisco area when it was just something trendy dot coms did. But now, he's helped get LEED-Gold (CS) for 353 N. Clark, one of the city's more prestigious new addresses and his own company's HQ. |
We snapped Erik, who'll be one of the panelists at Bisnow's Sustainability Breakfast & Schmooze on Thursday, on one of 353's green roofs last week. Erik says he thinks most new office buildings in the CBD will probably pursue LEED from now on. While he's still testing energy use to determine ROI at the new building, he says Mesirow is already enjoying some of its green functions, like demountable walls, daylight-harvesting systems, occupancy-sensor lights, flooring materials with high recycled content, and non-VOC paint. These building systems and materials used to be luxuries, but are now common in LEED buildings. |
