Office Build-Out Tips
June 28, 2010
Cunningham Meyer & Vedrine just finished its office build-out in a six-month time frame for a new 8k SF space at 1 E. Wacker. Eager to share the news, the law firm gathered the Association of Legal Administrators for a tour. The build-out was designed by Garnett Architects and built by Reed Construction. Office Concepts provided furniture systems and decommissioning. Getting the existing space cleared of asbestos and other hazards before the build-out was key to getting the space done quickly, said Reed's Mike Tenuta. | |
Garnett Architects' Ted Garnett said tenants should start thinking about build-outs of new space at least 18 months before their lease expires. Programming how much space is needed should be done before the LOI is signed because it'll help determine which building to choose. Another way to save: allowing the contractor to hire the sub-contractors could save time in the bid process and construction. |
