Out DuPage Way
Go west, Bisnow reader. Or at least go to our State of the West Suburbs event on July 31 at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, where panelist Choose DuPage CEO Greg Bedalov will tell us why DuPage County is a good place to locate a business and absorb some of that vacant CRE. (Crazy low event price here.)

Out DuPage Way
Of the 10 counties in the northeastern Illinois, DuPage has the lowest unemployment, Greg tells us: 7.1%. It's because of a diverse economy, featuring office, manufacturing, IT, and more, making it able to suffer the slings and arrows of an outrageous economy. (Conflicts and loans may break their bones, but a slow economy will never hurt DuPage.) Also, the county has a first-class transportation infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and good access to capital for local businesses, so that its diverse base is likely to keep growing in the long run—though the broader economic malaise will keep growth down in the shorter run. So it’s going to be a while before the office and industrial markets see a lot of absorption, Greg adds.
