Retail and Restaurants
It must have been our recent Bisnow Retail Summit that sparked patches of new retail hiring, development, and leasing throughout the Chicago area. For starters, Studley just hired veteran retail tenant rep David Metrick to head up its brand new Chicago retail division.

David Metrick
David, who's leased retail for 20 years, came from Transwestern and is still working with several national clients, including Barnes & Noble, Dave & Buster's, and Circle K. He was drawn to Studley'stenant-rep only platform and will follow its other offices in building a retail team to represent regional, local, and national clients. David is looking for other experienced brokers to join him in his endeavors. Need a gig?

As David has changed companies, a lot of retailers have changed their focus as well. With Borders going into bankruptcy, Barnes & Noble should be able to expand its market share. And grocery stores, like Trader Joe's (average footprint of 12k SF) moving into neighborhood markets, were the most active segment of the market last year, which excites us here at Bisnow, since we hate being more than two blocks from a source of wasabi peas and organic yogurt.
