SUPPLY CHAIN CHA-CHA
At yesterday's SIOR luncheon, Chicago Consulting's Jeff Haushalter said fluctuating gas prices are causing companies to rethink their supply-chain strategies. When they're higher, corporations want smaller regional warehouses and more of them; falling gas prices usually mean larger warehouses in more remote locations. Jeff helps distributors find alternative transportation methods to get goods to regional centers. He also helps find the ideal locations for the number of warehouses a company wants. Chicago often comes up on the “ideal” list because it's closer to more people than is either coast. |
We also snapped Venture One's Roy Splansky and Colliers International's Lynn Reich, who expects a lot of deals to close in the next 60 days. The Chicago SIOR chapter also won an award at the recent national conference for its commitment to community service and is raising funds to send underprivileged Chicago students to college in the fall. Chicago's also hosting the SIOR national conference this fall. |
