1206 Brookside Ave, Waukegan

A local investor bought the 24-unit 1206 Brookside Ave (above) in Waukegan for $1M from an East Coast hedge fund repped by Interra Realty's David Goss and Jon Morgan. The same company sold five other Waukegan apartment buildings (1725 Sunset, 920 Grand, 927 Grand, 2635 Cornelia, and 2713 Cornelia) totaling 37 units to another local investor.

CIM Group acquired the five-story Block 37 in the Central Loop, across State Street from Macy's. The 275k SF retail center is 30% leased to tenants like Anthropologie, Sephora, Disney, Eileen Fisher, Zara, Magnolia Bakery, and Puma.

Oakbrook Terrace Tower

Kemper Corp—repped by JLL's Andrea Van Gelder, Diana Riekse, and Kellen Monti—signed a long-term extension of its 30k SF at the 31-story Oakbrook Terrace Tower, the tallest building in Chicago's suburbs, north of Oakbrook Center Mall. JLL's Bruce Renwick repped the landlord, Arden Realty.

Ocean Tomo, repped by Transwestern’s Tony Karmin and Corby Marx signed a 36k SF early renewal at 200 W Madison St. Transwestern's Tamara Kos and Teddy Walsh repped the landlord.
FINANCING
 
The 88k SF Kennedy Plaza & XSport Fitness, which has been redeveloped, got $20M in long-term financing from a life company, arranged by CBRE Capital Markets' John Clifford, Pete Marino, and Bill Howe.
CONSTRUCTION
 
Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music building rendering, Evanston
The Goettsch Partners-designed, five-story Northwestern University Bienen School of Music building will break ground in May and deliver in time for fall 2015 classes. It's on the southeastern edge of the Evanston campus, just south of the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall and connects to the Regenstein Hall of Music. The 152k SF includes a 400-seat recital hall and a 150-seat opera rehearsal room. It's aiming for LEED Silver.
 
City Year's space at Orr Academy High School

Gensler and J.C. Anderson delivered office and classroom space for nonprofit City Year at Orr Academy High School on the West Side. The pro bono project included Orr student ideas.

Morgan / Harbour Construction completed three buildouts at Columbia Centre II (9450 W Bryn Mawr) in Rosemont for owners White Oak Realty Partners, Pearlmark Realty Partners, and Angelo Gordon & Co: 7,600 SF for Power Home Remodeling Group, 3,000 SF for Control4, and 1,700 SF for Hammortree Financial. The owners plan a $4M renovation of the 609k SF complex.

Mike Tenteris
Cushman & Wakefield has hired Mike Tenteris as senior director in its capital markets group. He joins from NAI Hiffman and has also worked for Grubb & Ellis and Converse Capital, plus a previous stint at C&W. He's got a B.S. from Bradley University.
 
Ryan Mollen
Ryan Mollen has joined Studley as assistant director. He worked for Core Realty Partners/Oncore International in Phoenix for eight years.
 
Steve Groetsema
Bridge Development Partners has promoted Steve Groetsema to director of leasing for its 2M SF industrial and office portfolio.
 
James Tazelaar

Krusinki Construction hired James Tazelaar as senior project superintendent. He'll supervise such sites as Comcast's interior buildout at 2100 S York Rd in Oak Brook. He previously worked at George Sollitt Construction for 21 years.
