Tallest Building No More
It's official. One World Trade Center (above, pending completion and occupancy) will be the nation's tallest building, according to the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. While we're happy for our friends in NYC, this ends 1,451-foot Willis Tower's 40 years as the country's tallest building (cue the world's smallest violin). The debate hinged on whether 1,776-foot 1 WTC's mast was a spire, which counts for the total height, or an antenna, which does not. Once the world's tallest building (today it's Dubai's Burj Khalifa), Willis, we hear, is happy the pressure's off and it can focus on other hobbies, like being in Transformers movies.
