That Garage Party Everyone's Talking About
Last Thursday we were on the ground at Transwestern's blowout industry bash and fundraiser for Crushers Club of Englewood, held in a dream man cave in the West Loop. (The private garage included one-of-a-kind cars and motorcycles and a poker room with a craps table.) "There is more to life than cookies and milk," Midwest prez Mike Watts tells us (center, with guest DJs Matt Pistorio from Telos Group and Dan Maslauski from JLL), which is why the company chose to support the life-changing boxing-centered organization that offers young people an alternative to gangs and the support and skills to improve their neighborhood.
Around 200 people came out and the event raised $6,100 for the organization. Snapped: DRESL commish Richie Klein and CBRE EVP Chris Reynolds. Richie's gearing up for the 2014 Winter Classic/DRESL Hall of Fame induction ceremony, following a chilly softball game (Golub and JLL were the victors last year) on Jan. 31. "Last year we had about 60 nutty guys come out and we are looking to get to 100 this next time," he says. Look for Hall of Fame inductees to be announced a few weeks prior to the event.
After winning a stuffed toy in a claw machine upstairs, we snapped some more of the TW team getting fast and furious: administrative associate Mallory Phillips, SVP Irv Gilner, and SVP Chris Davis. Irv tells us he recently completed a new office lease and resulting building sale for Mitsubishi Corp in Mexico City, and he's looking forward to the holiday party at his wife's pub (Gannon's Pub in North Center) on Dec. 5, celebrating 10 years in business.
Check out the cool rides.
