NAIOP Chicago  presented CB Richard Ellis' Jim Dieter  with the association's Award for Excellence, recognizing lifetime achievement. He'll be presented the award at NAIOP's Awards, November 9th. Past recipients include CenterPoint Properties Trust?s John Gates, Alter Group's  Bill Alter, Hamilton Partners' Allan Hamilton, and The McShane Companies? James McShane. Jim, who heads the company's industrial practice, announced earlier this year that he would retire in November after a 30-year career in commercial real estate.

Daniel S.R. Dakhil has been promoted to senior director, client services at Op2mize, LLC.  He'll now provide clients with project management, including proactive marketing and user representation, while also leading Op2mize?s research and financial analysis efforts.  Dan completed his BS in Education at Kansas University.

Joshua J. Peters  has joined Morgan / Harbour Construction as Assistant Project Manager. In his new capacity, Joshua will be directly responsible for preparing estimates and proposals; purchasing trades; drafting and negotiating trade contracts;coordinating field activities, and shop drawings; and managing design related issues. Joshua was previously employed with FCL Builders as a project engineer and is a LEED accredited professional.

Cushman & Wakefield announced the creation of a new Chicago Advisory Board comprised of business leaders from within and outside the firm to help enhance the firm's client services and to further expand its presence in Chicago. The board will meet quarterly and each member will serve a two-year term. The six-member board, comprised of top Chicago-area business leaders, includes:

  • Allen Koranda, former chairman and CEO of Mid-America Bank
  • Victor Polanco, chief operating officer of True Partners Consulting, LLC
  • Al Grace,  president of Loop Capital Markets and former vice president of Northern Trust Co. 
  • Jimmy Lee, managing director of the National Center for Community Development and former advisor to President George W. Bush; 
  • Nina Diamond, associate professor of marketing at DePaul University;
  • Joseph Harbert ( Chairman of the Chicago Advisory Board), chief operating officer of Cushman & Wakefield's New York Metro and North Central Region, which includes the firm's Chicago offices.

Matt McCormick has joined Desks, Inc. as VP of Sales. Matt has been the regional manager at Knoll in Illinois for the last three years. He'll be responsible for managing the brand with customers, designers, real estate brokers, and project managers.

Leasing News

Grubb & Ellis Company represented the University of Phoenix in a lease renewal and expansion at 203 N. LaSalle St., bringing the institution's total occupancy to approximately 44k-SF. Grubb & Ellis'Craig Cassell represented University of Phoenix. The landlord, M&J Wilkow, was represented directly by Jack O'Brien.

@ properties' Danny Spitz  represented HALO for Men  in two new leases this month at 938 W. Madison and 1351 S. Michigan, their 6th and 7th locations. For the South Loop location, the landlord is the Enterprise Companies, represented by Lord Companies LLC's Mark Fredericks. The Mag Mile location was a private, self-represented landlord. HALO provides men's grooming needs.

Transwestern has completed a long term lease for National Surgical Hospitals at 250 South Wacker, a newly renovated West Loop building. Transwestern's Tony Karmin repped the tenant. CB Richard Ellis' John Dempsey represented the landlord. The building is registered with the USGBC and is seeking LEED certification.

Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler's Ronald J. BehmJeffrey J. Kapcheck, and Mark J. Bell, repped AMB Property Corporation in a 228k-SF new lease to RIM logistics, ltd. at 200 Gary Avenue in Roselle. The Modal Group's Dan Smolensky,  Grubb & Ellis' Tyler Hardy, and CBRE's Bruce McConnell repped RIM logistics.

Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler Inc. team has been selected by Prime Group Realty Trust to lease Continental Towers, a three-building, 910k-SF Class A office complex located at 1701 West Golf Road in Rolling Meadows. CBK's Steven W. Kling and Brian L. Kruse will lead the marketing efforts for PGRT. There are currently 327k rentable SF available between the three towers.

Bradford Allen Realty Services' Marc Prosperi  and Ben Azulay recently represented Vision Critical Communications  in an inter-building move at 200 S. Wacker Dr. The landlord, Behringer Harvard, was represented by CB Richard Ellis.

 

Sales News

Paine/Wetzel ONCOR International  has completed a 14k-SF build-to-suit sale at Building #13 within Legacy Business Center in St. Charles on behalf of Addison Clear Wave. Paul Hemmer Companies, the developer, will be constructing the building. Paine/Wetzel's Theresa Gleason repped the buyer. The selling company, Paul Hemmer Companies, was represented by Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler's Brian Kling.
