The EBOM: LEED for Existing Buildings
Jones Lang LaSalle's Betty Casties
BOMA and the USGBC teamed yesterday to share lessons learned on greening existing space. Jones Lang LaSalle's Betty Casties has managed 225 W. Wacker, which went LEED-Gold in 2009 and is now managing the Hyatt Center at 71 S. Wacker, currently shooting for LEED-Platinum. She recommends getting the Energy Star rating very high first, because it can earn up to 15 points on the LEED scale. Sometimes it’s the small stuff, like LED lighting in elevators or standardizing floor temps that help earn those extra credits that boost you to the next level.
