The Sweet Spot
October 28, 2010
@properties Commercial has a penchant for unique deals, but its brokers are still a serious contender in their space. The group was founded just three years ago as a division of the residential giant, and now its 10 full-time commercial brokers (and a handful of residential brokers who are helping out) are gaining ground leasing commercial properties, especially in spaces between 1k and 10k SF.Yesterday, we stopped by the firm's Ohio Street office to chat with Larry Cohn, Barbara Olsen, John Cleary, Lee Ffrench, Danny Spitz, and Pam Tilton. The team says many of their referrals come from the residential agents whose clients are looking to buy, sell, or lease space for their companies. | |
The team has signed a few outside-the-box deals lately, like Larry finding temporary office spaces for the Transformers 3 shoot. Also, Danny signed leases for a burger bar and a pizzeria near the new Apple Store in Old Town, and Lee inked a lease with Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese barbeque at 210 E. Ohio, its first location in Chicago and 12th nationwide. John has been to Ireland to talk to some bar owners about bringing locations to Chicago. Over the next year, they hope to bring on even more experienced commercial real estate pros and expand into the North Shore markets their residential counterparts are in. |
