This Morning's Construction & Development Summit
Chicago’s development scene has recovered nicely, but it could be better if we fixed up our political and economic climate, we learned this morning.
The secret sauce for the economy is incentives, according to panelists at Bisnow’s 2nd Annual Construction & Development Summit this morning where 250-plus joined us, taking in the unreal views at the Jenner & Block Conference Center. Here’s a shot of our development panel: The Missner Group’s Barry Missner, Fifield Cos’ Alan Schachtman, Zeller Development Corp’s Jan Goldsmith and our host and moderator, Jenner & Block’s Don Resnick. Incentives would compel more developers to build everything from affordable housing to industrial in the city limits. Taxes are also a huge concern for hot tenants like Amazon, and panelists were hopeful that incoming Governor Rauner will make pro-business changes to lure more companies away from our Midwest neighbors. Stay tuned for extensive coverage tomorrow!
