Top 100: Freeborn & Peters
What attention grabbing projects has law firm Freeborn & Peters repped in Chicago? Several, but one (intials CS) is what really wanted to know about.

Mike Moynihan

Mike Moynihan, co-head of the F&P real estate group, reps Shelbourne Development, owners of the Chicago Spire. No word yet on if a new financing agreement will put the project back on track soon, but he loves the unique way it's brought buyers from around the world to pay attention to Chicago. He's also represented River East, home to an AMC, Lucky Strike Bowling, and residential units. In '02, Mike  started the real estate group and now partners with Richard Traub, leading 20 members, focusing on downtown development.

Here's the current state of the Chicago Spire, otherwise known as the 7-story hole-in-the-ground. Mike entered real estate law after growing up in a family that owned a construction business and first practiced as a litigator. The group?s emphasis on development has ceded to receivership and crisis management in the past year, he says. But the office leasing practice has remained steady, and Freeborn and Peters is trying to grow from 125 to 150. Alas, Mike can prioritize: he's looking forward to this week's company holiday party.
