Top 100: WHAT BAUM REALTY WON'T DO
Sometimes, the best deal is the one you don't do, says Baum?s Allen Joffe. With David Baum and Adam Secher, he heads up the 19-year-old retail firm, which markets itself as only leasing the best space for their tenants or finding the best tenants for their landlords. |
The "best space" mantra has helped them find the next growth neighborhoods as they emerge. The team started leasing in Bucktown in the early '90s, before it had the panache it does today. What's the next hidden gem? David expects to see growth in Pilsen,Logan Square, and Back of the Yards, thanks to strong neighborhood organizations and community desire for positive development. We snapped Allen and Adam showing us Baum's environmentally friendly River North offices last week. |
Even if exurban development has fallen off, they're looking forward to retail growth in Chicago's neighborhoods. David started the company in '91 and grew it to 25, including 18 brokers in the Chicago office. Having repped clients like Jimmy John's, Starbucks, and Chipotle(as well as landlords like Golub, Fifield, L&B, and The Enterprise Cos), finding a caterer for a 20-year anniversary shouldn't be too much of a challenge. |
