That's what panelists told non-believers at yesterday's SIOR luncheon at the Rosewood in Rosemont. Duke leasing VP Susan Bergdoll explained that the I-88 corridor is just 12% vacant, down from 15% at its peak. The corridor (where Duke has 400k SF to lease) has the advantage of being near the homes of many of the executives who have offices or warehouses there. CenterPoint's Jim Clewlow says that his company continues to see intermodal as the way of the future. We hope so, since it just invested in 6,000 acres in Joliet for an intermodal site. | |
We believe the students are our future: Here's Roosevelt University scholars David Lobiosa, Allen Grimes, and Insente Salgado flanked by their department director Jon DeVries and Northern Builders' James Grusecki. The students were recently awarded scholarships from Northern Builders for their promising futures in industrial real estate. Roosevelt's Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and Jon wants to remind everyone to come to the annual Roosevelt Gala on Nov. 3. | |
We snapped Principle Construction's James Brucato and DP Partners Andy James preparing to break bread. Earlier this month, they broke ground on the new Winpak Portion Packaging 267k SF manufacturing facility in Sauk Village. The factory should provide 40 jobs to the south suburbs in 2012. |
