Cubs Gobbling Up Surrounding Rooftop Clubs

Chicago
Placeholder

If you can’t beat ‘em, buy ‘em. That’s what the Chicago Cubs are doing with the latest purchase of three more neighborhood rooftop clubs surrounding Wrigley Field, the latest development in the Cubs’ ongoing dispute with the clubs. A company owned by the Ricketts family purchased the clubs from Sheffield Finance partners Jarry Lasky and Murray Peretz, the Chicago Business Journal reports. The Ricketts now own six rooftop clubs and have a financial stake in a seventh. The Cubs and rooftop owners have been at odds over the ballclub’s $575M ballpark renovation plan. The two sides have a 20-year revenue sharing deal. [CBJ]
