Illinois Tops The Nation In LEED Certified Buildings

Illinois tops the nation in LEED certification, according to the US Green Building Council. It's the third straight year Illinois topped USGBC's survey and the Land of Lincoln was one of only four states to expand its LEED footprint in 2015.
According to USGBC, Illinois has 161 LEED certifications, representing 3.43 SF of certified space per resident. Illinois' total LEED certified footprint is an astounding 44M SF. Illinois and Colorado are the only states to have appeared on USGBC's list every year since 2010.
