New Residential Development Planned for West Loop
Apartment developer and architect Patrick FitzGerald is planning an 81-unit building for a popular West Side stretch of Lake Street. The building, at Lake and Sangamon streets, would sit next to Lake Street Lofts, a 128-year-old building he converted into 89 apartment units in early 2000, Crain's reports. The apartments are close to the Fulton Market District and the much-anticipated future offices of Google's Chicago HQ. FitzGerald's new project, which awaits city approval, would join a 227-unit tower planned for the corner of Lake and Halsted streets, and a 167-unit building planned for the corner of Madison and Green streets, among other Near West Side residential projects in the works. FitzGerald is counting on future West Side office workers choosing to live, work and play in the same neighborhood. [Crain's]
