Salesforce.com Doubles Chicago Office
The large cloud computing company Salesforce.com announced plans to double its fast-expanding local workforce to 1,000. The company has over 500 employees based in its River North offices at 111 W. Illinois St. This increase will put Salesforce among the city's biggest tech companies, and add hundreds more tech jobs to the already tech-heavy River North, Crain's reports. The city's largest tech companies, Groupon and Motorola Mobility, have well over 2,000 employees each. Speaking at the company's Chicago conference last week, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he wants more tech companies to follow Salesforce's lead. Salesforce has grown from about 200 local employees in 2011.
