McDonald's Confirms West Loop Move
The ink is dry and all that's left is to start packing. McDonald's confirmed yesterday that it is indeed moving its HQ from suburban Oak Brook to the West Loop. The move will be completed by spring 2018.
Reports first surfaced a couple of weeks back that the Golden Arches and Sterling Bay were finalizing details of the move to the former Harpo Studios campus, which it bought last year in a $32M deal. McDonald's will move to 1045 W Randolph and "transform the space into a modern setting that fosters collaboration and connectivity," according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook says the move to Chicago signals the company's commitment to "build a better McDonald's." It's also a homecoming. McDonald's left Chicago for Oak Brook in 1971. [S-T]
