Retail, Office Space Part Of Friedman's River North Hotel Project
Friedman Properties unveiled renderings for its proposed 31-story hotel project next to the landmark Reid Murdoch Building in River North at a public meeting last night. The building designs by HKS Architects reveal a glass-and-metal tower that would replace a two-story structure on the site.
The proposal calls for six floors of office space and ground-level retail to complement the planned 500 hotel rooms, DNA Info reports. A sky lobby on the eighth floor would connect the two buildings and allow guests to walk onto the Reid Murdoch Building's roof.
Friedman's plans come as downtown is in the midst of a hotel boom, with rising tourism numbers and fears that hotel demand will soon outpace supply. [DNA]
