Introducing The Hotel Zachary, From The Family That Owns The Chicago Cubs
Hickory Street Capital, the real estate development firm owned by Chicago Cubs owner the Ricketts family, released renderings for its proposed boutique hotel across the street from Wrigley Field yesterday. The Hotel Zachary—named after Wrigley Field's designer, Zachary Taylor Davis—will rise seven stories and house 175 rooms when it's completed in 2018.
Hickory Street is partnering with One Off Hospitality, 4 Star Restaurant Group, Folkart Restaurant Management and West Town Bakery to create a unique dining experience. Wintrust Bank, one of the Cubs' sponsors, will open a location inside the 238k SF project.
Hickory Street chairman Crane Kenney says the hotel is intended to create a neighborhood hub where "families, fans and visitors find entertainment, great food and daily attractions in an urban park setting."
The hotel's site was best known as the longtime home to a McDonald's that was demolished in March to make way for the project. Construction for the hotel, which is part of the Rickettses' $575M Wrigley Field renovations, will take place during the offseason and while the Cubs are on the road. McDonald's will reopen in the Zachary's retail component when the hotel is delivered.
