Here's What Uptown's Latest Proposed TOD Would Look Like
The Wilson Avenue "L" station is in the midst of a $203M renovation that will bring it into the 21st century. Which makes the surrounding area in Uptown one of Chicago's hottest for TOD development.
MX3 Architects revealed renderings for a nine-story TOD at Wilson and Broadway, adjacent to the station. Many Uptown residents would welcome the project. Its proposed location is currently decaying retail but Cedar Street Co has several redevelopments in the area, including its own TOD that was recently approved by the Chicago Plan Commission. This project would house 197 apartments and 12k SF of retail, according to Curbed.
But the site would need a zoning change to proceed, and the Truman Square Neighbors are planning a meeting in the near future to gauge residents' support or opposition to the project. [Curbed]
