People Are Torn On Lincoln Yards Proposal
Residents are polarized about Sterling Bay's proposals for Lincoln Yards.
A survey of 443 people by Alderman Brian Hopkins (2nd) shows 39.9% of people either liked or loved the plans, while 38.2% either disliked or hated them. About 22% of respondents were neutral.
Most of the respondents (76.3%) were not present at Sterling Bay's first community meeting for the 70-acre project, which will include an entertainment district anchored by a soccer stadium, an office skyscraper and residential and retail space. That meeting ruffled some feathers and left a lot of concerns — Sterling Bay didn't open the floor to questions, and attendees told Bisnow they didn't feel like the presentation gave enough specifics about the $5B development.
In that meeting, Sterling Bay highlighted its commitment to infrastructure and public space, which Hopkins' survey shows was a smart note to strike — the vast majority of respondents highlighted those two elements as the most important part of the project to them.
