Last week, Ukrainian Village was named the hottest neighborhood in the US by real estate website Redfin. What are the factors that make it so appealing?

1. Location

Ukrainian Village is ideally situated near Wicker Park’s constantly evolving retail and nightlife corridor. A mix of upscale local boutiques, national brands and critically acclaimed restaurants in Wicker Park means Ukrainian Village residents can buy everything they need within blocks of their homes. Ukrainian Village also has its own combination of restaurants and hip cocktail bars, for people who want to enjoy urban life right outside their doors.

2. Access To Public Transportation

People who took the Redfin survey said access to public transportation was important to them. Ukrainian Village is served by several major bus routes and the Division Street Blue Line station (shown), providing easy access to downtown and O’Hare International Airport. Several TODs are either under construction or have been delivered nearby.

3. Affordability

The other major factor cited in the Redfin survey was affordability. Whether renting or buying, people moving to the neighborhood have a variety of options to fit their budgets. Developer Wicker Park Apartments has emerged as a player in the market.

4. Character

Developers and tenants love buildings with stories to tell and Ukrainian Village, a landmarked neighborhood, has scores of them. Even though it’s near Wicker Park’s trendy nightlife, much of Ukrainian Village remains tree-lined and tranquil, providing a respite from the urban bustle.
