The View From Hubbard Place
Yesterday’s contest picture was a south-facing view taken from The Habitat Co’s Hubbard Place at 360 W Hubbard. (And you can catch Habitat CEO Mark Segal with the details at Bisnow’s Chicago Multifamily Summit on April 8.) We had a tie, and our first winner is The Jaffe Cos SVP Michael Eizenga. (Ok, maybe he has a leg up as a new Hubbard Place resident.) He tells us his firm’s 460k SF lifestyle center, The Arboretum of South Barrington, just passed the 90% occupancy hurdle with several new national fashion and restaurant tenants. He’s seeing shopping centers gravitate toward more entertainment uses to drive traffic at night—at the Arboretum there's Pinstripes for bowling/bocce and iPic Theaters for movies with dinner and drinks.
Our second winner, Ridge Development Co SVP Jennifer Wagner, lives just across the river so she recognized the view. She’s busy working on RidgePort Logistics Center, a 1,500-acre rail-served park south of Joliet. Served by the BNSF Railway, the first 60k SF facility will function as a cold storage rail hub. Produce from California will come in, and local dairy products and eggs will be shipped out west, Jennifer says. Infrastructure across the park is coming along—they’ve even named the main boulevard after legendary UW real estate professor James Graaskamp. (Jennifer and Ridge’s president are both alums.) Outside of the office, Jennifer’s reliving her time abroad in Paris (above) by reading books in French on her Kindle. Both Michael and Jennifer win a free ticket to our event.
