The greater Chicago area ranked 30th on BuildZoom's toughest metro markets in which to build housing. BuildZoom Chief Economist Issi Romem researched the cost of building multifamily and single-family housing across the country. Chicago's 10 toughest ZIP codes to build in are:

4. 60517 (Woodridge and Bolingbrook)

5. 46321 (Munster, Indiana)
