DLA Piper Moves Into Its New River Point Offices
River Point was delivered last December. Yesterday, the building welcomed its first anchor tenant.
Law firm DLA Piper moved into 175k SF on the ninth through 16th floors of the new 52-story tower at 444 West Lake St. The offices were developed by Hines and designed by Pickard Chilton to meet LEED Gold standards. In an effort to evoke the firm’s global platform, the new office features wall coverings that depict grid plans from sections of cities in which the firm has offices domestically and internationally. The office also has panoramic views of the city, including the landscaped Chicago Riverwalk and a 1.5-acre public park adjacent to the building.
DLA Piper was repped in the lease by JLL and Cushman & Wakefield. Other tenants moving to River Point are law firm McDermott Will & Emery, Mead Johnson Nutrition and Morton Salt, which signed a 16-year, 52k SF lease on two floors in June 2015.
River Point and 150 North Riverside are expected to contribute to an extra 4M SF in CBD office inventory by 2018.
