Kraft Heinz's Suburban Space to Become Medline HQ
Kraft Heinz isn't leaving Northfield for the Aon Center until next year, but it appears the company has already lined up a new tenant. Medline Industries reportedly plans to move from Mundelein to backfill Kraft Heinz's old home.
Kraft Heinz has been actively marketing its 679k SF at 3 Lakes Dr to sublease tenants since the Aon Center deal was announced in July. Kraft Heinz completed a major renovation three years ago, and its lease in Northfield runs through 2023.
Medline, meanwhile, is growing. In addition to the Northfield move, the company bought three Aon Hewitt buildings in Lincolnshire for $17.2M in January. The company has 2,638 full-time employees in the area, and plans to invest $60M into expanding its operations, in exchange for $17.5M in tax incentives. The move to Northfield is an indicator of the strong suburban absorption rate, and that prime suburban office space is in demand, as even more companies move to Chicago. [Crain's]
