Fulton Market's evolution into a corporate office market continues with the news that workplace and design firm Knoll is moving its Chicago headquarters and showroom to 811 Fulton, Shapack Partners' 70K SF office building under construction at Fulton Market and Halsted Street. Knoll is moving to Fulton Market from Merchandise Mart, where it had a showroom and offices for nearly 50 years, in January 2019.

Knoll will occupy 24K SF on part of the fifth floor and the entire sixth and seventh floors, and will get crown signage on 811 Fulton's exterior. The company has been a proving ground for a litany of designers, including Eero Saarinen, Antenna Design, David Adjaye, Marc Newson and David Rockwell. Notable designs to come out of Knoll include the Tulip chair, Wassily chair and womb chair, and it holds the production rights to Mies Van Der Rohe's Barcelona chair.

Knoll Design Director Benjamin Pardo said 811 Fulton's architectural setting supports Knoll's interest in integrated design and the move will energize the next generation of architects, designers and clients to create inspired modern interiors that blur the line between residential, hospitality and commercial furnishings.

Savills Studley Corporate Managing Director Renae Bradshaw, Vice Chairman John Goodman and Vice Chairman Robert Sevim represented Knoll in the lease negotiations, valued at over $12M.
