Chicago’s Version of a CIA “Black Site”
Talk about an Election Day snafu for the City. Twitter is on fire right now with The Guardian’s news of the Chicago Police’s uber-secretive Homan Square facility on the corner of West Fillmore and South Homan, which looks like any old West Side brick warehouse and was formerly owned by Sears Roebuck. With a closer look, The Guardian found a checkpoint for cars, an armed guard, floodlights on the roof and reports of armored, military-style vehicles, surveillance equipment and metal cages for holding suspects within. The building’s home to police special units ranging from anti-gang to arson and recovered property (cough, drugs) storage, but little has been written about its covert interrogation operations.
