Performance Review: CSO Does The Godfather
Last night we watched The Godfather, featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra playing the score. The recurring trumpet solo alone gave us the chills, and the entire experience gave the film new comedic and dramatic life. From Clemenza’s “Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.” to Don Corleone’s “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse,” it’s truly the film that launched 1,000 mobster movies. And it’s still the best one.
On a real estate note, you can buy the five-bedroom Staten Island mansion used as the Don’s English Tudor estate for only $2.9M. (The owners even re-created his iconic office inside.) If you’d prefer Beverly Hills, you can shell out $135M for the historic Beverly House, where the fabulously horrific horse head scene was shot (also the site of JFK’s 1953 honeymoon). Thanks to Pircher, Nichols & Meeks’ Dave Pezza for the tip!
