Tour Chicago's Buildings Past and Present During Open House Chicago
Daniel Burnham famously advised, "make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized." View the large, realized dreams of architects and developers, past and present, during the Chicago Architecture Foundation's Open House Chicago. From marshland to our current skyline, Chicago has been constantly building and moving forward. CAF's annual event features tours of over 200 sites across the city, from the Kemper Building (shown), to the original Sears Tower (now known as Nichols Tower) on the Southwest Side, to The Plant, a former meatpacking facility-turned-urban farm in Back of the yards. Touring the sites is free. Additionally, events are programmed throughout, ranging from photography exhibitions and historical panels, to family festivals and live performances in different neighborhoods. The festival runs 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
