Mountain View College’s new $17M Student Services Building earned the National Institute of Steel Detailing 2009 Project of the Year for Class I structures up to 500 tons. Located at 4819 W. Illinois Ave. in Dallas, the new 68k SF building is crowned with MVC blue and gold towering above the campus skyline. The general contractor was Fort Worth's Steele & Freeman; fabricator was Structural Fabrications of Evansville, IN; and the steel detailer was Dallas's M.D. Bowers. The building opened in the fall.

The 1970s-style complex is located on a wooded site below grade compared to the streets surrounding it. MVC prez Felix Zamora tells us that left the campus invisible to the thousands of drivers who passed the 300-acre site daily. As this view from the west side of campus off of the Duncanville Road entrance shows, it's now a focal point that can be seen from the major roadways around the college.
