$25M Kraft Heinz Food Plant Growth Project Approved In Garland
Garland's goal of becoming a hub for food and beverage production came to life again this month, when its local Kraft Heinz Food plant received approvals to make $25M in capital investments under a state program.
The Dallas suburb nominated Kraft Heinz Food for this expansion project through the Texas Enterprise Zone Program, which offers certain financial incentives to foster investment activity and job creation in designated enterprise zones.
With the program's stamp of approval, Kraft Heinz said it will inject millions of dollars into the community by making substantial renovations and improvements to its Forest Lane facility in Garland.
The company plans to acquire new machinery and equipment while creating upward of 250 jobs.
Kraft's 266K SF plant sits on 50 acres and is near several enterprise zones in North Texas, including the Federal Opportunity Zone in Garland.
The company, which already has 843 local employees, is required under the initiative to ensure 35% of all new jobs are filled by residents living in enterprise zones.
“For decades, Kraft Heinz Food Company has been an important and highly valued corporate stakeholder in Garland and we are extremely excited to assist them with this latest expansion of operations in our community,” Garland’s director of economic development, David Gwin, said in a statement.
“We look forward to many more years of successful partnership between Kraft Heinz and the community.”
